Science is Alive

Room 14 children experimented with different science activities during Primary 
science week. They made their very own lava lamp, watched milk dance and found out about motion, wind and gravity through making their own paper airplanes. 

The Shared Reading group read a book about the water cycle and did an experiment on how evaporation and condensation work. 

Here are some of the children's of what the enjoyed, predicted, explored or discovered: 

Cooper - 'I discovered that the dancing milk experiment only started to dance at the end. Perhaps the milk and the dishwashing liquid reacted together'. 

Lucas - 'It was so interesting that we predicted some objects were going to sink but they actually floated'. 

Minna - 'When the lava lamp was made, it was a bit like a volcano erupting'.

Stepping Out Programme

At the end of Term One Room 15 learnt all about road safety.

We learnt about the dangers of sneaky driveways and how to cross the road 

safely. Constable Gordon helped us to learn what to do by taking us out onto 

Kelvin Road so we could practise. 


In the last session with Constable Gordon we learnt about being safe in a car 

and we got to dress up as policemen and policewomen! 

Our Assembly

Last week was our Room 14, 15, and 16 assembly, here are the photos of our Orchard exploring and a few videos of the actual assembly. We enjoyed showing the School our learning about sustaining the Orchard and what we can get from our Orchard. Our songs were fun to learn and we also did some acting about recycling and our school bins. Here are some comments from Room 16 children:

There were fruits and vegetables and speakers, I had fun and I was a cauliflower which is a vegetable - Lucy

I felt like it was fun, I liked doing the little dance when we stood up in the song - Blake

There were lots of fruit and vegetables, we did two songs and I felt good- George

Swimming and Stepping out Programme with Constable Gordon

This term we have been very busy. Over the last couple of weeks we had our swimming lessons and our stepping out programme with Constable Gordon. Here are some photos of swimming and some writing about what we learnt during those lessons.

Kelly Sports Day 

Last Thursday the Year 2 students participated in the Kelly Sports Day. In our class groups we played a range of games with a focus on working together in teams. 

Here are some of Room 15's reflections on the day - 

Today we learnt to concentrate and persevere when it got hard. Georgia 

I liked the Tug O War where we had to persevere so we didn't fall over. Oscar 

When we did the Tug O War we had to concentrate to keep holding the rope and not fall over. Isla 

I liked the challenge in the Tug O War because there was a competition. Alex

We learnt not to laugh at people when they fall over. We should check they are ok and show care for each other. Abigail 

My favourite game was when we had to get the eggs as a team and run to put them in the basket. I liked the different colours. Yara 

I liked the rope challenge because I liked the competition with the other classes. Sophie 

The Dragons Game was good because there was a good challenge and competition. Calvin
